Two weeks after Adam Harvey came from 9-1 down in the deciding game to beat Hien Truong in the Leapmotor Singapore Open semifinal, the same match was set again at the MB Ho Chi Minh City Open 2026, this time in front of Truong's home crowd.
Truong had not conceded more than nine points in a game in singles and beat Nasa Hatakeyama 11-9, 11-4 in the quarterfinals. Harvey beat Mikar Larenzo Fisher 12-10, 11-3, after Fisher had knocked out the sixth seed Grayson Goldin.
In the other half, Hong Kit Wong beat Kenta Miyoshi 11-7, 11-3 to stay on course for a fourth straight singles title, and drew Luc Pham, who had beaten the fourth seed Mitchell Hargreaves 11-1, 12-10.
A qualifier goes deeper than she ever has
Trang Huynh came from a game down to beat the second seed Albie Huang 10-12, 11-0, 11-1, conceding one point across the last two games, then beat Ho Tam 9-11, 11-4, 11-8. She had never been past the round of 16 in a PPA Tour Asia Women's Singles draw before.

Hien Truong and Kenta Miyoshi had won silver together in Singapore a fortnight earlier. In Ho Chi Minh City they were opponents: Truong back with Quan Do, Miyoshi alongside Robert Stirling. Truong and Do came from a game down in a quarterfinal against Le Xuan Duc and Anh Pham, while Stirling and Miyoshi beat Harvey and Wil Shaffer 12-10, 12-10.
