Fuelled by a strong racket sports culture that has produced badminton legends like Lee Chong Wei, the island has taken to pickleball with real enthusiasm. With over 40 venues across the island and mainland, and new ones opening every few months, there has never been a better time to pick up a paddle in Penang.

This guide covers the top 10 pickleball courts on Penang Island, based on court quality, facilities, and the overall playing experience. Whether you are looking for a tournament-grade venue or a laid-back spot to rally with friends, there is something here for every level.

Located in the Greenlane residential hub, it offers six air-conditioned courts with a refreshing purple colour scheme, a pro shop, a lounge area, showers, and a balcony overlooking the neighbourhood. One thing to note: the baseline spacing on one side of the courts is tighter than ideal, so fast gameplay near the back line requires a bit of adjustment.

Picklesky was one of the first venues to ride the pickleball wave in central Penang, housed inside the newer Sunshine Central Mall in Air Itam. Nine indoor air-conditioned courts serve all skill levels, and recent upgrades include match recorders that let players track and review their games. The courts use a laminated surface that can be slightly uneven in spots, and the lower ceiling height makes high lobs more difficult. That said, it remains a solid all-weather option in a convenient mall setting.
