Funemizu's first medal is a gold at home
Yuta Funemizu and Tama Shimabukuro came from a game down to beat Collin Johns and Len Yang 8-11, 11-2, 11-7 in the Men's Doubles final. Funemizu had never won a medal of any colour on the tour, his best result being a quarterfinal.
Shimabukuro, quoted on the official tour site: "I knew how much it meant to Yuta to win a medal in Japan and I'm happy I could be part of helping him win the gold."
Back-to-back golds for Wong
Hong Kit Wong beat Mitchell Hargreaves 11-4, 11-3 in the Men's Singles final, a second consecutive title after Beijing and his third singles gold in Asia.
Two more titles for Dennehy and Shimabukuro
Danni-Elle Townsend and Sahra Dennehy won the Women's Doubles 11-4, 11-5 against Fujiwara and Sawaki. Dennehy and Shimabukuro then won the Mixed Doubles 11-2, 12-10 against Yufei Long and Len Yang.
