Three of the top four Men's Singles seeds lost on the same day at the Panas Kuala Lumpur Open 2026, which left only the top seed standing.
Nasa Hatakeyama beat the second seed Hong Kit Wong 8-11, 11-7, 11-5, continuing a run that had begun in qualifying. Jimmy Liong beat the fourth seed Kenta Miyoshi 11-6, 4-11, 11-4. The Vietnamese qualifier Nguyen Hung Anh beat the third seed Tama Shimabukuro 11-7, 5-11, 11-9, which ended the triple crown bid.

Shimabukuro stays alive in the doubles
He and Bhatia won their Men's Doubles round of 16 11-5, 11-5, and he and Alix Truong lost the first game of their Mixed Doubles match 0-11 before winning 0-11, 11-6, 11-9 against Huynh and Hien Truong.
Sawaki takes the top seed to three games
Kei Sawaki, through from qualifying, took a game off Chao Yi Wang, the world number seven, who came through 11-5, 6-11, 11-9. She stayed in the tournament in the Women's Doubles with Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall, beating Ho Tam and Sarah Burr in three games.
