Kei Sawaki, 15, came from a game down to beat Pei-Yu Lai 4-11, 11-3, 12-10 in Women's Singles qualifying at the Panas Kuala Lumpur Open 2026. Lai had beaten her 11-7, 11-7 in qualifying at the Panas Malaysia Open 2025 on the same courts.
Liong wins an all-Malaysian tie
Jimmy Liong beat Syed Uzair Sufi 11-3, 12-10, which left him the last Malaysian in the Men's Singles draw. Liong had lost the bronze medal match at 9Pickle at the Panas Malaysia Open the previous year.
Colin Wong lost 11-7, 11-5 to Marco Leung in the round of 32 but advanced in the Men's Doubles with Roman Estareja, beating Ho Hoan and Nguyen Hung Anh 11-8, 11-9.
Navratil goes out in qualifying
Hoan and Anh had produced the biggest result of the day elsewhere, knocking Zane Navratil and Mitchell Hargreaves out of the Men's Doubles qualifying quarterfinals 11-7, 14-12.
Qualifiers keep winning
Nguyen Hung Anh won three singles matches in the day, the last a 7-11, 13-11, 11-6 recovery against Jace Morris. Nasa Hatakeyama dropped eleven points across two qualifying matches and then beat Hsieh Chen-An 11-7, 12-10.
