Wednesday's results

Oncins (BRA) lost to Thomas Yu (CHN) 11-9, 3-11, 11-9 in the round of 16. Yu has already won in Asia this season: he and Len Yang took the Hong Kong Open Men's Doubles title in August. Ben Johns (USA) and new partner Dekel Bar (ISR) made light work of Hien Truong (VIE) and Quan Do (USA), 11-1, 11-8, a week after the same pair took a game off Johns in Malaysia.

The day's tightest scoreline belonged to Yu and Santhosh Narayanan (USA), who outlasted Jason Taylor and Mitchell Hargreaves (AUS) 10-12, 12-10, 12-10. Top Mixed Doubles seeds Tyson McGuffin (USA) and Chao Yi Wang (TPE) survived a match of more than an hour against Len Yang (USA) and Ting Chieh Wei (TPE), 12-10, 6-11, 13-11.

Among the Malaysians, Jimmy Liong (MAS) lost 9-11, 11-6, 12-10 to Leander Lazaro (PHI) in the Men's Singles round of 32. Muhammad Aiman (MAS) and Marco Leung (MAC) won their opener 8-11, 11-5, 11-3 before Armaan Bhatia and Zane Navratil stopped them in the round of 16, and Colin Wong (MAS) and Nguyen Thang (VIE) beat Syed Uzair Sufi (MAS) and Andrew Pham 11-6, 12-10 in a round of 32 match with Malaysians on both sides.

Thursday order of play

Vietnam controls the bottom half of the Men's Singles draw with three of the four quarterfinal places. Malaysia Open champion Giang Trinh (VIE) plays Hoang Nam Ly (VIE), while Hong Kit Wong (HKG), Hong Kong Open winner and last week's Malaysia Cup finalist, meets Hien Truong.

Yu takes his upset of Oncins into a quarterfinal against Kenta Miyoshi (JPN), who, according to the tour, won a 2025 PPA Tour Australia title by beating Wong in New Zealand. The match of the day is in Women's Singles: Kaitlyn Christian (USA), fresh from double gold in Malaysia, against four-time PPA Tour Asia champion Yufei Long (CHN). Johns and Bar face Yu and Narayanan in the Men's Doubles quarterfinals.
