Hong Kit Wong played three matches on Championship Court on the second day of the Capital Securities Beijing Open 2026 and won all three: Jimmy Liong 11-4, 11-8 in the singles, then 11-5, 11-3 with Eunggwon Kim in the Men's Doubles, then 12-10, 11-6 with Christa Gecheva in the Mixed Doubles.
That put him in the quarterfinals of all three events, alongside Wang and Dennehy.
Home players open the tournament
The first day belonged to the doubles draws. Len Yang and Thomas Yu came through qualifying and then beat Ho Hoan and Nguyen Hung Anh 13-11, 11-6. Yu also beat Sophia Nhi Huynh and Hien Truong 11-5, 11-4 in the Mixed Doubles alongside Yufei Long, a result that accounted for the second Men's Singles seed. Wong and Gecheva ended that run the following day.
A 16-year-old reaches the quarterfinals
He Phoenix beat Yuta Funemizu and then the sixth seed Mitchell Hargreaves 11-1, 11-5 to reach the last eight at home, where Wong was waiting.
Two exits in a day for Pham and Hargreaves
Luc Pham, the fourth Men's Singles seed, led by a game against the qualifier Harrison Brown and lost 4-11, 11-4, 11-2, then went out of the Men's Doubles with Roman Estareja against the Malaysian pair of Loh Shi Sheng and Jimmy Liong. Hargreaves also lost all three of his events on the same day.
Zefeng Li and Nicholas Wiseman knocked out the fourth Men's Doubles seeds Joseph Wild and George Wall in three games.
