Storylines
Wong v Trinh, round three
Hong Kit Wong (HKG) is the Men's Singles top seed off his Hong Kong gold. Giang Trinh (VIE) is seeded third on home soil. They have already traded Men's Singles wins on this young tour: Trinh in the Malaysia Open semifinal, Wong in the Hong Kong final. Vietnam's 17 direct entries give the home crowd plenty of other reasons to turn up.
Women's Doubles: Dizon and Truong against Wei's streak
Meghan Dizon and Alix Truong (USA) are the top seeds, Dizon ranked No. 15 and Truong No. 26 in the PPA Tour doubles standings. In their way is Ting Chieh Wei (TPE), who has won three straight PPA Tour Asia Women's Doubles golds with three different partners and now plays again with fellow UPA Asia Trailblazer Yufei Long (CHN), the pair that won Fukuoka together last weekend.
Mixed Doubles pedigree
Top seeds AJ Koller and Meghan Dizon (USA) bring the most pedigree in the field: Koller has two PPA Tour Mixed Doubles golds and Dizon is ranked No. 10 in the event. Third seeds Joseph Wild and Danni-Elle Townsend (AUS) have five PPA Tour Australia golds together, and siblings Jonathan and Alix Truong (USA) are seeded second.
Kapadia returns with new partners
Vanshik Kapadia (IND) is back for the first time since his Malaysia Open haul of Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles gold plus a singles silver. He has new partners in both events: Tejas Mahajan (IND) in Men's Doubles and Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall (USA) in Mixed Doubles.
Malaysians in the draw
Jimmy Liong (MAS) is in the Men's Singles main draw and partners Leander Lazaro (PHI) in Men's Doubles. Colin Wong (MAS) is the top seed in Men's Singles qualifying and pairs with Ryan Ng (SGP) in Men's Doubles.
