Southeast Asia's professional pickleball calendar stayed loaded last weekend, with two Leapmotor-branded stops anchoring the region's growing pro scene. The PPA Asia Tour set up in Singapore while the APP Asia Tour landed in Penang, Malaysia, giving Asia-based pros a choice of stages and giving fans across the region plenty to watch.
PPA Asia 500 Leapmotor Singapore Open
The PPA Asia Tour hosted a 500-level event in Singapore, a significant point total for the region even though it carries half the weight of a regular tour stop. Collin Johns and Len Yang won gold in men's doubles, taking a three-game final over Hien Truong and Kenta Miyoshi for their third medal together on the PPA Asia circuit since May.
Hong Kit Wong, who goes by Jack, claimed his third men's singles gold in his last four international PPA starts, defeating US-based Adam Harvey in the final. Wong ended up medaling in all three disciplines for the weekend.
On the women's side, Yufei Long completed the double. She beat Annie Xie for the singles title, then teamed up with Hong Kong's Kara Wheatley to take doubles gold.
The standout storyline came in mixed doubles, where 16-year-old Atlanta native Jaeda Minniefield paired with Vietnam's Luc Pham to win the pro title. Minniefield has racked up a number of PPA Challenger medals, but this result marks her biggest title yet.
Leapmotor APP Penang Open
Over in Malaysia, the APP Asia Tour held its sixth event of the 2026 season in Penang, marking the tour's second visit to the country this year. Quang Duong was the standout name, completing the singles and doubles double.
He topped 15-year-old Chinese rising star Phoenix He (a former table tennis phenom) for the singles title, then paired with Harsh Mehta to beat top seeds Munro and Schenk in doubles. They repeated the same pairing's gold medal win from Ho Chi Minh City. Duong narrowly missed the triple crown, falling in the mixed final to Jack Munro and Roos van Reek after a run that included an upset win over top seeds Fudge and Schenk.
Van Reek, for her part, walked away with a full triple crown. She won women's singles over Yu-chieh Hsieh after both top seeds fell early, then paired with Vivian Glozman for doubles gold, repeating a title the pair won together in Vietnam a month earlier.
She closed out the sweep with mixed gold alongside Munro. It is van Reek's second career triple crown, matching a feat she pulled off with the same partners a month ago at the BIDV Cup in Ho Chi Minh City.
What's Next for the Region
The PPA Asia Tour heads to the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City Open on the August 9th weekend, while the APP Asia Tour returns to Malaysia that same weekend for the 2026 APP Malaysia Open. Between these pro stops, growing grassroots and regional series such as Manny Pacquiao's Maharlika Pilipinas Pickleball Tour in the Philippines and the Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour continue to build out the sport's base across the region, a sign that the pro and grassroots levels are growing together rather than in isolation.
