PickleMall by Leapmotor Officially Launches at Sengkang Grand Mall

By ThePickleBase4 min read

PickleMall by Leapmotor has officially launched in Singapore, turning the L1 Atrium at Sengkang Grand Mall into a full-blown pickleball destination from 18 to 30 August 2026. The event runs daily from 7am to 10pm and marks the debut of a sports-lifestyle concept designed to bring the sport straight into the malls where people already spend their time.

The event is a signature production by Stratgeist Sports, backed by Title Sponsor Leapmotor, Official Pickleball Partner JOOLA, and Venue Partner CapitaLand. The idea behind PickleMall is to bring the court to the players, complete with beginner-friendly open play, coaching clinics, tournaments, wellness experiences, and retail activations layered around it.

The Official Launch Night drew close to 80 guests spanning Singapore's sporting, civic, business, media, and creative communities. Representatives from the People's Association, along with Sengkang Central and Buangkok community organisations, joined PickleMall's sponsors, partners, players, and members of the local pickleball scene.

A/Prof Elmie Nekmat, Grassroots Adviser for Sengkang Central, and Adrian Ang, better known as Xiao Ming of SGAG, were among the notable attendees.

The night opened with a forum on how sport can strengthen communities and turn everyday public spaces into places for social connection, moderated by emcee Justin Ang of Muttons in the Morning. The panel brought together A/Prof Elmie Nekmat, Isaac Yeo (Managing Director, Stellantis ASEAN, representing Leapmotor), Thomas Nguyen (CEO of JOOLA Asia Pacific), Jason Lim of Stratgeist Sports, and Hai Nguyen, Head of Pickleball at Reclub.

According to Thomas Nguyen, CEO of JOOLA Asia Pacific:

"Everyone has probably heard about pickleball, but not everyone has tried it. By having it inside the mall, where there are so many people of different ages and backgrounds, it's so easy. You finally give it a chance."

PickleMall Quest Turns Play Into a Habit

The launch also introduced PickleMall Quest, the event's first gamified pickleball experience, developed together with Reclub. Available on the Reclub platform, Quest turns play into an ongoing journey in which participants complete quests, earn points, and level up as they go.

The goal is to lower the friction that keeps people from staying active by giving them a reason to keep coming back and connect with other players along the way. Singapore users of the Reclub app can find the Quest widget on their home screen.

One Court, Different Generations

Pickleball's cross-generational pull was on full display through a community sharing session featuring 11-year-old Isaac Toh, one of Singapore's young pickleball talents, and 73-year-old Elaine Yong, a veteran player who picked up the sport back in 1996. Isaac attended alongside three other under-14 Lions from the local pickleball community.

More than 60 years apart in age, the two share the same court and the same enthusiasm for the game, a fitting illustration of PickleMall's goal of making the sport welcoming to everyone.

Rather than a conventional ribbon-cutting, PickleMall marked its official launch through the signing of a giant PickleMall paddle, with forum panellists, key organisations, community figures, players, and supporting partners all adding their signatures. Guests then took to the court for a Dreambreaker game and open play, before winding down with refreshments from Refreshment Sponsor COLLIN'S®.

Three More Malls to Come

The Sengkang activation is the first of four PickleMall stops planned across Singapore in 2026, with future editions heading to Junction 8, Aperia Mall, and Geneo. Each activation is expected to draw hundreds of players and over a thousand spectators.

Beyond the courts, visitors can expect sports equipment demonstrations, retail activations, health and wellness partners, interactive brand experiences, and food and beverage collaborations rounding out the atrium into a full lifestyle stop. During its run at Sengkang Grand Mall, PickleMall will also tie into the Sengkang Community Festival on 29 August.

As interest in the sport keeps climbing across Singapore, PickleMall is positioning itself as a long-term platform connecting communities, businesses, and lifestyle brands through accessible sporting experiences, all while reimagining what a mall atrium can be used for.

Malaysia's mall scene has been watching similar activations take off nearby, and if PickleMall's four-stop run performs the way Stratgeist Sports expects, it could be a preview of what's coming to courts closer to home. If you're hunting for a place to play regardless of which side of the Causeway you're on, courts.thepicklebase.com is a good place to start.
