Singapore Takes Center Court: The EPIC World Championship 2026 Is Here

Updated 5 min read

Singapore is making pickleball history this week with the EPIC World Championship from April 30 to May 3, 2026. One of the most ambitious amateur pickleball events ever organized officially kicks off today (April 30) at the Kallang Tennis Centre (Singapore National Tennis Hub). Over four days, the city-state hosts approximately 1,500 players from around the world, all competing for a share of a guaranteed prize purse starting at USD $50,000. The prize pool is projected to climb toward $75,000 by the time the final ball is struck.

What Is EPIC?

EPIC World Championship was designed from the ground up to celebrate the global amateur pickleball community. Unlike pro tours that cater to the elite, EPIC is built exclusively for amateur players (anyone rated between DUPR 3.0 and 5.0), making it one of the largest competitive gatherings for recreational and club-level players worldwide.

Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and powered by DUPR, the event brings together music, food, drinks, entertainment, and world-class competition under one roof on the tropical shores of Singapore. Players who registered received a gift bag valued at over $250, packed with exclusive EPIC-branded gear, JOOLA equipment, hotel discounts, and collector items.

All matches take place outdoors at the Singapore National Tennis Hub, 15 Stadium Walk — one of Southeast Asia's premier sports complexes, adjacent to the iconic Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang. Competition runs daily in two main sessions:

  • Morning: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Afternoon/Evening: 2:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Matches are open to the public, so fans can come down to the courts and soak in the atmosphere. Local and regional media partners will also be covering the action throughout the week.

Tournament Format & Schedule

EPIC features five event categories: Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Advanced Team, and Intermediate Team — as well as a special non-prize Generations event in partnership with Centre for Fathering / Dads for Life / Mums for Life.

Play unfolds across four days:

Day 1 — Thursday, April 30: Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles begin with Round Robin play. Early Playoff Brackets may commence if time allows.

Day 2 — Friday, May 1: Mixed Doubles Round Robin opens. Men's and Women's Doubles advance to Playoff Brackets through the Semi-Finals.

Day 3 — Saturday, May 2: The Team Event takes center stage using MiLP format (4v4). Round Robin and Playoff Brackets run through Semi-Finals for both Advanced and Intermediate divisions.

Day 4 — Sunday, May 3 — Championship Sunday: All remaining Semi-Finals, Bronze Medal matches, and Gold Medal Championship Finals across every category. Medals are awarded to all first, second, and third-place finishers.

Skill Divisions

This is a DUPR-rated, skill-based tournament. All results will be submitted to DUPR. Divisions for individual events:

  • DUPR 3.0 – 3.7
  • DUPR 3.7 – 4.3
  • DUPR 4.3 – 5.0

For the Team Event, four-player squads must meet combined DUPR thresholds:

  • Intermediate: Max combined DUPR of 15.3 (individual max: 4.00)
  • Advanced: Max combined DUPR of 18.3 (individual max: 5.00)

All events use rally scoring. Pool play and playoff games are played to 21 (win by 2), with medal matches best-of-three games to 15.

The Prize Purse

With 514 players registered (registration has since closed), the escalating prize structure makes EPIC among the richest amateur pickleball events in Asia — and possibly globally.

Singapore's Moment

EPIC is a landmark event for pickleball in Southeast Asia. The Singapore Tourism Board's backing signals the country's intent to establish itself as a hub for emerging racket sports, and the event follows growing regional momentum. Singapore has seen a surge in pickleball participation over the past two years, with courts appearing at community clubs, sports complexes, and private facilities across the island.

For players who've made the trip, EPIC offers something rare: world-class competition in an exceptional setting, with the energy of a festival and the stakes of a real championship.
