Selkirk Sport, the leading manufacturer of high-performance pickleball equipment, has officially launched Selkirk Academy in Kuala Lumpur. This marks the programme's first expansion into Asia. Debuting at PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang, the Academy brings a structured, coach-led approach to player development that goes far beyond the casual social clinic.
Developed in partnership with Pickleball Coaching International (PCI), Selkirk Academy was built on a simple premise: as pickleball matures, so must the quality of its instruction. Where traditional camps attempt to cover the entire game in a day or two, Selkirk Academy takes a deliberately focused approach. They offer themed camps designed for in-depth mastery of specific skill sets.
According to the co-founder and co-CEO of Selkirk Sport Rob Barnes:
“Pickleball is evolving, and the education must evolve with it. Committed players have outgrown local social clinics. Through Selkirk Academy, we are providing a thoughtful, deliberate training model that establishes a global standard for serious students of the game.”

Three Camps, One Goal to Level Up
The Academy offers three themed camps, each available in 1-day and 2-day formats, and open to players of all skill levels:
- Precision Pickleball focuses on on-demand control and exact shot placement. This is ideal for players looking to tighten their consistency and court awareness.
- Power Pickleball teaches players how to introduce speed effectively into different game situations, without sacrificing control.
- Competition Pickleball is designed for players preparing for tournament play, tackling the mental and tactical dimensions of winning under pressure. This camp is open to individuals or partners.
Coaching Built Around You
One standout feature of Selkirk Academy is its dynamic diagnostic process. Rather than relying on general ratings like DUPR, coaches assess individual skills (dinks, drops, resets) at the start of each camp to group players by actual proficiency. Every instructor is hand-selected and certified by PCI, with a Coach Assistant on site to keep ratios manageable and feedback personal.
The learning doesn’t stop when the camp ends. Participants receive access to a digital database featuring individual clips of their play with coach commentary, alongside curated instructional content from Selkirk Pickleball TV to help reinforce what they learned on court.
Also on Offer: Instructor Certification
Beyond player development, Selkirk Academy also serves as an authority for coach education. An in-person PCI Level 1 Instructor Certification is available for RM1,100, with Level 2 programmes scheduled for later in 2026. This makes Kuala Lumpur a meaningful hub for the region’s growing coaching community.

Camps kick off on 3 June 2026 at PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang, with registration currently open to the public.
