KUALA LUMPUR, 23 December 2025 - The inaugural Gatorade Malaysia Closed 2025, Malaysia’s first-ever official pickleball championship, concluded this past weekend with matches that brought the country’s leading players together in one tournament.
Competitors battled not only for medals, but also for official national ranking points, a milestone aimed at strengthening pickleball’s standing as a recognized competitive sport in Malaysia. The event featured emerging talents, junior athletes, and seasoned players, reflecting a pickleball community that continues to expand nationwide.
The championship was organized by the Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA) in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur Pickleball Association (KLPA), with matches officiated under national standards. Winners earned ranking points to climb Malaysia’s official pickleball ladder, alongside championship titles recognizing skill, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Tournament Scope
The tournament drew a broad mix of participants, from promising juniors to former national sportsmen, highlighting pickleball’s increasing appeal as both a recreational activity and a competitive platform. The event also reflected a sport that is moving toward a more structured national ecosystem, supported by official rules, coaching pathways, and competitive progression.
Key Matches and Notable Names
Gatorade Malaysia Closed 2025 featured multiple categories across age groups, from Under 12 and Under 15 juniors to adult divisions. National names such as Keevan Raj, a former national hockey player, and Izran Farroukh, an ex-SUKMA tennis player, competed at the highest level.

In the adult divisions, Mohd Faizal Bin Othman, champion of Men’s Singles 35+, dedicated his win to his family.
In the Women’s Singles Open, Lim Xin Yu, who finished 2nd Runner-Up, said she hopes to see pickleball reach major multi-sport stages in the future.
