India has a new flagship for women’s sport. All Things Pickleball (ATP) has unveiled the Women’s Premier Pickleball League (https://expressnews.asia/2025/08/women-first-indias-first-the-exclusive-league-for-women-in-pickleball-tournament-will-take-place-on-november-2025/) (WPPL), the country’s first professional pickleball league built exclusively for women. The league elevates women athletes from sidelines to spotlight, putting them at the center of competition, sponsorship, and storytelling.
This milestone also strengthens India’s role in pickleball in Asia, (https://www.pickle.asia/) showcasing how regional markets are investing in dedicated women-first competitions.
WPPL Season One
The inaugural tournament lands in November 2025 with a clear format: ten franchise-owned teams, five women players per roster, competing in a high-energy, professionally managed season.
WPPL promises top-tier competition, celebrity involvement, and a strong commitment to promoting women in sport at both grassroots and professional levels.
Founding Vision
Beyond the match calendar, the league sets out to move the needle for women’s sports in India. The platform aims to create real professional pathways—training environments, contracts, and visibility—while drawing new fans into the game.
Pickleball’s growth in India has been swift at the grassroots level, and a standalone women’s league—branded, funded, and scheduled as the main event—signals a step change. Positioned within the expanding pickleball Asia (https://www.pickle.asia/) ecosystem, WPPL highlights how India is shaping the next chapter of the sport regionally and globally.
